Sensor Technology Ltd is the world's leading high technology rotary torque measuring company exploiting the global patented technology of using Surface Acoustic Wave technology to produce TorqSense rotary torque measuring sensors and other strain, temperature and pressure sensors for non-automotive applications.
Sensor Technology has over 30 years experience in developing rotary torque systems and has a global network of distributors. The company has on-going external and internal R&D to introduce new products and ensure its technology remains a world leader for torque measurement. To assist with this process it has a network of world-renowned expert consultants and is currently involved in a number of university research projects.
Torque Transducers
Sensor Technology Ltd offer their latest rotary and static torque transducers:
- TorqSense Rotary Torque Transducers
- Optical Rotary Torque Transducers
- Strain Gauge Base Mounted Transducers
- Strain Gauge in line Transducers
Each torque transducer contains an embedded non-volatile memory chip which stores data on parameters, calibration etc., which can be passed to a stand alone Transducer Display Interface or to a host PC operating 'TorqView' Virtual Instrumentation Display Software. This provides the user with a very cost-effective solution to measuring, recording and displaying data from a wide variety of applications.

TorqSense Rotary Torque Transducers
Sensor Technology Ltd announce a new radical technology for measuring rotary torque. Developed in conjunction with a UK Government Link programme, TorqSense Transducers are the world's first low cost non-contact rotary torque transducers.
TorqSense RWT310/320/330/340 Transducers are available in sizes from 500mNm up to 10,000Nm.
|
TorqSense transducers are also suitable for OEM applications such as:
- Viscosity & Consistency Monitoring & Measurement
- Variable Speed Drive Systems
- Motor & Machinery Control
- Automotive & Aerospace
- Condition Monitoring

Optical Rotary Torque Transducers
The E-Series Optical Rotary Torque Transducer (ORT) provides an ideal means for precise dynamic measurement of rotary and static torque from 10mNm to 10,000Nm.
Each E200ORT transducer should be used in conjunction with an E201/2 Transducer Interface.
E-Series Transducers are also compatible with the D Series Instrumentation.

An extensively developed measurement principle is used, in which the intensity of light beams is modulated by the applied torque. Light intensity is measured by means of photovoltaic detectors, and the electrical output is used to provide precise indication of the torque transmitted by the shaft.
The use of this technique results in a transducer having fast mechanical and electrical response, low inertia, and complete freedom from brushes or complex electronics. The absence of brush gear allows high-speed operation with a continuous rating of up to 20,000RPM standard, and 30,000RPM high speed on the smaller sizes. The torque shaft is of low compliance - ½° maximum torsion deflection on the smaller transducers, and ¼° maximum on the larger transducers, at full-scale deflection. The lamps providing the light source are selected to ensure long life and high stability with the light intensity automatically controlled within the transducer body by a monitor cell.
Strain Gauge In-Line Torque Transducer
The SIT 105/110/120 strain gauge reaction transducers are designed for operation in any industrial environment. Models are available in sizes ranging from 50Nm to 5000Nm, offering outputs from mV/V outputs, to ratiometric voltage outputs, to digital data connection via RS232 or USB. An option of a bench mount housing is available for torque wrench test and calibration
Torqview
TorqView has been written in NI LabVIEW, to provide a very simple yet user-friendly measurement analysis and data presentation interface.
TorqView is provided as a fully stand-alone executable file meaning that LabVIEW software is not required. However, single VI's are available from Sales for users with LabVIEW.
